Red Hook Waterfront, Brooklyn NY Community and Rental Real Estate

106 Ferris St.

106 FERRIS STREET, BROOKLYN, NY 11231

106 Ferris was built by Col. Daniel Richards circa 1880. Richards is also credited with developing plans for both the Atlantic Docks (site of today’s Red Hook Container Terminal) and Erie Basin, the two waterfront improvements that brought about the emergence of Red Hook as a major shipping and warehousing center in the mid-19th century.

The property sits directly behind Valentino Pier which is now a public recreational area, best known to accommodate the Red Hook Films series which takes place every summer.  The 4-story 106 Ferris was primarily used as a storage facility during the years when the shipping industry in New York Harbor was booming.  Now it houses artists, woodworkers, furniture designers and even a specialty foods distributor.
